Memorial Day Sunday
Rain and rain again. Joy and I decided we'd take advantage of the weather and go see Angels and Demons. We met up with Darla and Mary. It was an enjoyable movie...lots of people but most were there with kids to see the Museum flick so we had seats all together. After the movie, we drove by to see some of Joy's friends who were cooking out. They live off Marion Anderson in on Deer View. Lovely house...they were cooking ribs and other goodies. I left Joy with her friends and drove home. Henry was pouting since it's been to wet to walk around. He's been off galavanting around but I refuse to go with him in these downpours. I picked up a cake at Harvest Food, slipped a bottle of wine in my jacket and headed to Bill and BA's for their gathering. Even though it was still pouring, spirits were high and everyone was on their covered deck ready to partake of all the ribs, fried fish, slaw, beans, corn casserole, and lots of other sides. It was great to see Mary and Eddie, Ruth and Ken, all BA's kids and grandkids. Linda was there with Amanda and Joel, their kids. Gardner and Roxi were there with Tyler and Caleb. The Lewis' were there. Betty made the fantastic corn casserole. Donna and Ed showed up a little later. Lots of people and fun. I tried to be good but couldn't pass up the ribs...Bill is the best cook I know. I did pass on the desserts except for a slice of watermelon. Joy came in later with Cindy and Todd and met up with Edward. They managed to scrape together some plates of food but they had already eaten earlier so two big meals in one day for them. The rain stayed with us off and on throughout the party but it didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm. I called it a day around 11 and went home to sweet dreams listening to the rain. Nice way to wake up...gentle rain.
